THE ACTORS GYM

The Actors Gym started in 1979 when Bobby and a group of friends realized they had outgrown their acting classes but still needed a space to work the craft each week.  This organic idea cultivated itself into a safe place for actors to take risks on stage and has lasted over 40 years on both coasts.

At the Actors Gym, there is one mandate: "When you step on stage, leave a piece of your soul behind; when you give feedback, try to help.”

Professional writers are essential at The Gym. By bringing in ten pages of new material per week, writers can cast their pieces from the actors in attendance, giving actors invaluable cold read opportunities, while also allowing writers to hear new work as it develops.

Works developed at The Actor’s Gym have included  critically acclaimed Off Broadway and Broadway productions, Academy Award winning films and Emmy winning television shows.
